Iron Man’s Ablative Suit, Model 23, was built to explore celestial bodies such as comets and asteroids. Tony used it “off-label” on Earth to deal with an alien parasitic nanoplasm that took over the Tin Man armor, reprogramming the ejected tiles to destroy the parasite.
The first image of the Ablative Armor was a tiny dot near a sun flare.
